The Most Recommended Classic Romantic Movies

Lately, I’ve been binge-watching classic romantic movies, most of them from the victoria era. And I love every beat of the movie. The characters, the plot, the sets, all of it. So beautiful, it hurts.

So I came here to tell you guys, I recommend these movies to you. Perhaps, you wanna watch it too. I guarantee, these movies gonna give you a different experience of watching a romantic movie, classic romantic plot, and setting.

The Most Beautiful Classic Romantic Movie

1. Pride and Prejudice

Rate: 9/10

First things first, this is my favorite romance movie. Alurnya klasik, haters becoming lovers. Highlightnya adalah lika-liku romansa antara Elizabeth Bennet atau Lizzy (Keira Knightly) dengan Mr. Darcy dan antara Jane dengan Mr. Bingley.

Lizzy has a strong, smart, and brave personality. Di tengah kondisi era victoria yang sangat mengukuhkan status quo, dia tidak peduli, dia menentang and just wanna be her authentic self. Meanwhile, Jane has a sweet and soft heart. That’s what I love about both of them. 

Selain romansa, film ini juga mengisahkan tentang keluarga yang unik. Totally recommended. Aku suka banget sama set dan pengambilan gambarnya, iconic! What a beautiful set art work! Pantesan dapet banyak nominasi oscar!

2. Little Women

Rate: 9/10

Siapa sih yang nggak tau Little Women? This is another beautiful movie that I’ve ever watched. Jangan sampai kamu lewatkan. Highlight yang aku suka adalah kekeluargaan yang begitu indah, apalagi antar kakak dan adik.

Ada 4 kakak beradik keluarga March yang berjuang untuk meraih impiannya masing-masing.

Tentunya dalam perjuangan itu mereka memiliki banyak tantangan untuk dilewati. Terharu deh pokoknya karena mereka saling support! Ada Emma Watson dan Timothee Chalamet, loh! HAHA

3. Jane Eyre

Rate: 9/10

Sebenarnya kisahnya cukup berbeda dengan film romantis yang lainnya. Jane Eyre memiliki masa kecil yang bisa dibilang cukup tragis karena kematian orang tuanya dan diperlakukan semena-mena oleh keluarga bibinya.

Hingga Ia dipaksa belajar di sekolah yang kejam. Kehidupannya pun terus berlanjut sampai Ia menemukan true love. Sebuah kisah cinta yang unik dan tidak bisa ditebak!

4. EMMA

Rate: 8/10

Film ini nggak kalah seru dari yang sebelumnya aku mention. Film berlatar belakang tahun 1800-an ini dibintangi oleh Anya Taylor Joy yang berperan di The Queen’s Gambit series.

Emma memiliki sifat egois sehingga beberapa kali ada kesalahpahaman yang terjadi antara dia dengan orang terdekatnya.

Selain itu, yang bikin menarik banget adalah visualnya. Biasanya film klasik cenderung vintage kan? Nah tapi EMMA is soo different. SO COLORFUL AND BRIGHT! What a splendid set color scheme!

5. Enola Holmes

Rate: 8/10

Film ini cute, sih. Enola Holmes dibintangi oleh Millie Bobby Brown. Of course, Enola adalah adiknya Sherlock Holmes. Dia punya jiwa petualang yang keren banget!

Jadi ceritanya gini. Suatu hari ibunya menghilang secara misterius dan Ia pun bertekad untuk mencari keberadaan ibunya. Seru banget! Kita bisa ikutan mikir atas clue atau teka-teki yang ada di film ini.

Oh, tidak ketinggalan, di film ini juga ada Louise Partridge yang berperan sebagai Mr. Tewkesbury/ Dia layaknya disney prince, like a flower boy, pretty boy.

6. Les Miserables

Rate: 8/10

Les Miserables akan memberikan pengalaman yang berbeda saat nonton classic romantic. Bagaimana tidak? Base film ini adalah theater or like an opera.

Wajib ditonton sih, disini juga ada sejarahnya dalam menggulingkan kekuasaan raja di Perancis. Plotnya menegangkan, but at the same time unique and cool!

7. Marie Antoinette

Rate: 8/10

Marie Antoinette berkisah tentang sejarah tumbangnya kerajaan Perancis nih guys. Seru abis, sih. Kita bisa ngeliat gimana sih kehidupan di istana pada zaman dahulu.

Dan Istana Versailles! WOW SOO SPLENDID. I love the ceiling work and the detail of every door, tho. Must watch!

8. Sense and Sensibility

Rate: 7/10

Sense and Sensibility salah satu pemerannya adalah Kate Winslet yang jadi Rose di film Titanic! She is soo beautiful, right?

Nah, di film ini berkisah kedua kakak beradik yang mencari belahan jiwanya. Sebenarnya aku nggak terlalu engage dengan alur ceritanya. Nevertheless, film ini tetap worth to watch.

9. AnnE with an E

Rate: 9.5/10

LAST BUT NOT LEAST! I know guys this is not the movie but this is a GLORIOUS SERIES. Most beautiful, warm, lovely, and cute series I’ve ever watched in my life. Aku tulis ini di rekomendasi karena perhaps some of you are craving for good series so here we go.

There’s so much you can learn from this movie, like warm family, friendship, gender equality, freedom of speech, and TRUE LOVE. 

The characters are so diverse. Anne has a charming and unique personality. She talks so much, indeed. Sometimes she never thinks before she jumps but she has passion, ambition, and a different mind works. AND I LOVE HER CHARACTER!

She taught me that it’s ok to be different. Just love yourself, be yourself, and don’t ever lose your authentic self. That’s right, you don’t have to fit into the format. Better still be yourself rather than forcing shit just to be accepted in society.

OH GOD, you must watch the whole season! For real.

ISTG. It’s worthy.

Most importantly, there is Gilbert Blythe that catch my attention. He’s soo dreamy.

There's no boy more sad and handsome than Gilbert Blythe. He is smart and passionate. Memiliki cinta yang tulus.

He is the definition of men written by women. Anne said Gilbert is like the character out from the novel’s page! HAHA, that’s true Anne. His eyes are soo beautiful, he set the bar way too high, too good to be true. Perhaps a man like him is only in a fiction world. That hurts.

Dear girls, get someone who looks at you the way Gilbert looks at Anne!!!

Most warm and lovely series I’ve ever watched!

That’s it! The most recommended classic romantic movies! 

Honestly, setelah aku menonton beberapa film atau series tersebut, aku jadi merasa mellow and hopeless romantic lol. Like.. apakah ada men written by women? Sesempurna itu diceritakan di sebuah novel/film. Sosok yang gentle come from novel pages? Apakah ada? Well I’ll keep wondering and leave it on my mind. Maybe it’s only exist in a fiction.

But at the same time aku dapat banyak pembelajaran, tentang perspektif baru dalam menanggapi beberapa fenomena. Sebenarnya juga terbesit ingin hidup di zaman europe classic, sih HAHA karena lingkungannya sangat indah dan bersih. Ya, gitu deh pokoknya. Semoga artikel ini membantu, ya!
